This historic renovation spoke to us directly as native Santa Feans and a multigenerational family of builders. The owner purchased a 1920s adobe property in a traditional downtown neighborhood overseen by the Historic Design Review Board. The property, once upon a time a single-family home, had since been divided into a duplex. Our task was to return the house to its original grandeur, fully update it, and also expand, wherever possible.
As trusted Santa Fe builders for three generations, we have deep respect for our hometown building traditions and really love to be a part of Santa Fe’s architectural legacy. Staying within the city’s historic requirements was not difficult for us at all. The challenge was to be creative and work within the constraints the old structure presented and work around what had been done to alter it. We brought the house back to its original bones, completely refreshed and entirely updated it. It’s a fully renovated historic home that honors Santa Fe’s long-standing building tradition.
